Morphology and foliar anatomy of Syzygium Cumini (l.) Skeels y Syzygium. Jambos (l.) Alston (myrtaceae), cultivated in the city of Formosa

Abstract
In public spaces of the City of Formosa-Argentina, several specimens of Syzygium jambos (L.) Alston “pomarrosa” and Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels “cereza de Java”, “ciruela negra”, “jambolán”, “ubón”, Myrtaceae were found. They are two exotic species naturalized in the North of Argentina. After comparing their foliar anatomy to other of the genus Psidium and Eygenia, it was proved that the anatomic characteristics are similar to the ones described by Calabroni et al. (2013, 2014, 2018) for four phenotypes of Eugenia uniflora, Psidium guajava and Psidium kennedianum, such as the hypostomatic leaves, mesophyll isolateral, open bicollateral vascular bundle of the mitrib, the presence of crystal idioblasts and lisigenos cavities. Different characteristics between the two species were observed: colourful leaves and larger size in S. cumini; discolored leaves and greater thickness in S. jambos. These differences could be attributed to environmental, interactional or genetic factors.
