Abstract

The northward expansion of the urban footprint in the city of Resistencia, particularly along the lower stretch of the Negro River, has impacted biodiversity and its natural dynamics. This research seeks to develop biodiversity preservation actions through an integrated system of green spaces, including biological corridors and reserves. It poses restoration alternatives and ecological recovery efforts as a collaborative challenge between academia (via technical support) and decision-making institutions and government institutions, yielding multiple community benefits. A local restoration experience is presented: Ávalos Park in Resistencia, developed by interdisciplinary teams from UNNE and Fundación Urunday. The initiative involved diagnosis, research and comprehensive planning to upgrade the current natural area to an Urban Ecological Reserve, aiming to preserve native species, promote eco-recreation, and develop ecological education.
