Fray Grotti and healthcare assistance in Villa Formosa

This paper aims to analyze the healthcare actions of the priest Gabriel Grotti in the
National Territory of Formosa at the end of the 19th century. The emergence of Villa Formosa
involved the construction of various administrative systems to enable the development of the
city life, characterized by an unfavorable physical, health, and economic context. In this
context, the figure of Fray Gabriel Grotti emerges, he was the who promoted the attention to
the main needs of the inhabitants of the Villa, as well as its urban evolution, without neglecting
the spiritual issues for which he had been sent to Formosa.
