The history of the sanitary system in Argentina and the spatial analysis of the centers of primary healthcare (CAPS) in San Juan

Abstract

The present work has the objective of analyzing the beginning of the Sanitary System
in Argentina, particularly in the province of San Juan, within the project of Medical
Geography. Regarding methodology, information about the Sanitary System was collected to
trace its history. Afterwards, the localization of the Healthcare Centers was analyzed using the
information provided by the Programmatic Area of Public Health Ministry of the Province of
San Juan, Once the data were collected, the corresponding thematic cartography was
designed. The results allowed the analysis of spatial location of the Healthcare Centers and
the geographic distribution of the Sanitary Zones.
