Exploring the birth of the public policies in science and technology for the defense of the Argentinian Republic

Abstract

The experiences in the military research during the Second World War, especially the creation of large-scale projects in areas such as electronics, radarization and atomic energy represented a real breakthrough in the history of policies in science and technology (hereafter CyT) in the military field. This process started in the United States and developed in other parts of the globe such as Europe and Latin America when it was understood that science and technology were in the center of the scenery, thus producing an unprecedented concentration of the power. This process reached Argentina through a series of public policies carried out by Juan Domingo Perón; a movement supported by the industrial sector of the Armed Forces. In this exploratory work, we will trace the first policies carried out in Argentina to promote the sector of CyT linked to the national defense.
