Academic Reports. Formosa becomes a City. The 1940´s decade as a teaching alternative

Abstract

In the present study, many theoretical issues are going to be analyzed to promote a methodological and conceptual change when teaching geography and the social sciences, suggesting a documentary source as a teaching resource. The resource refers to the front page of Diario EL NORTE in the 1st September 1949 issue where the celebrations for the turning of the Villa Formosa into a City was published, during the government of Rolando Hertelendy (1946-1950). The political context of Formosa of this period in relation to the national context is going to be analyzed as well as the foundation for this teaching proposals, the benefits and the risks. A brief teaching proposal to work in the classroom is going to be suggested.
