Recent Neighbourhoods, Housing Politics and Social-Environmental Events in the city of Formosa: The Case of Lote 111 and La Nueva Formosa

Abstract

In the last decade, vast lands of the periphery area of the city of Formosa were

occupied, especially the south-eastern areas. This process of expansion and population growth has led to new neighbourhoods, in a spontaneous as well as a planned manner, but in both cases caused by the demographic pressure and the environmental factors. It must be pointed out the implementation of housing plans in a controlled manner or in a subsequent control related to the social scenarios in terms of housing. For this study, the types of occupation, the political intervention forms of each social sector and the impact of the social-environmental factors were incorporated and compared. This study is exploratory and the sources include data and information collected from the media, government agencies, etc. The objective of the present research is to learn how the populations that now live in the Lote 111 and La Nueva Formosa settled down having in mind the aforementioned factors
